Join NOW members at Shadowbrook, the beautiful estate of NOW member Monica Getz at 821 N. Broadway in Irvington to share good feminist company with good food and drink. Spouses, partners, and friends are welcome! The Solstice celebration has traditionally meant food so if you wish to bring something, please use the following guide: last names starting with A to G can bring appetizers or vegetable dishes, H to R casseroles, S to Z desserts or beverages. Book recycling was well received at the Summer Solstice, so we will do it again this time. Please bring any books of feminist interest and whoever wants one takes it. The leftovers go to My Sisters' Place. We will cap the evening with a review of activities of the past year and plans for the future. DIRECTIONS: Shadowbrook is through the entrance gate on the northwest corner of West Sunnyside Lane and Broadway (Route 9) on the border between Irvington & Tarrytown. From 287 west (Cross Westchester Expressway), take exit 9-Tarrytown (after exit 1!), the last exit before Tappan Zee Bridge. Make left turn at the light onto Route 119 southbound. Proceed to the next light and make a left onto Broadway/ Route 9 south. Go 0.8 miles to the second light just past the sign announcing "The Village of Irvington". The American Booksellers property is accross the road on your left. Make a haripin right turn through the gate of Shadowbrook. Bear left to main house. From the south, going north on Broadway, the entrance is on the left just at the intersection of Sunnyside Lane and Broadway. PARKING: We have made special arrangements with American Booksellers for parking across Broadway/Route 9 from Shadowbrook in the American Booksellers parking lot. |
