June is Pride Month
Since 1971, NOW has recognized that lesbians endure multiple discriminations and that the oppression of lesbians has a
negative impact on all women who step out of their assigned "place." A lesbian - or a woman others perceive as
lesbian - can still lose her job, her children and her housing in most parts of the county, and it is completely legal. Lesbian rights are women's rights.
This year's 34th Annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Pride March will be held June 29 starting at 12 p.m. going from 5th Avenue and 52nd Streets to Christopher and Greenwich Streets. A moment of silence will be observed at 2 p.m. Terrence McNally and Cherry Jones will be the grand marshals. Call the NOW Phone at 914-428-7744 for information about joining an marching contingent.
