Financial Planning for Women
On April 25th Westchester
NOW sponsored a seminar, "Financial Planning for Women: Working Towards
Financial Independence." Julia A. Peloso, Certified Financial Manager,
Senior Financial Consultant in the Merrill US Private Client Group and
Assistant Vice President at Merrill Lynch, who was both dynamic and
knowledgeable, delivered the evening’s presentation. The event was well
attended, with many of the women present engaging in a lively discussion.
Ms Peloso directed her talk
toward helping women achieve a variety of financial and personal goals,
including stock, bond, and mutual fund management. Ms. Peloso advised women to
"do their homework," and gave out information of useful web sites,
such as Morgingstar.com, and on software tools such as Microsoft Money, Quicken
and Excel. Ms. Peloso also stated that it is possible to become financially
independent when only investing in "socially conscious" companies.
The event, which ran two hours, was quite successful and a follow-up event is
in the works for the Fall. Plans are to cover such issues as long term care
planning, health insurance, disability, and more.
If you are interested in attending our next event and have issues that you would like to be covered, please call our NOW chapter at (914) 422-2730. A big thank you goes out to our own Sylvia Eusebi for organizing and planning this successful event! ¨
Research Group to Form
Have you questions about
your finances? Would you like to learn more about financial topics in a
supportive women's group? Join us in forming a research group to learn about
financial planning based on our questions.
How many times have you attended a wonderful seminar wanting to know
more about specific topics but not wanting to get a sales pitch? How often do
you wish you could discuss financial topics, Investment Objectives, money
market, Bonds, CDs, stocks, International stocks, Long Term Care, Retirement
Accounts, Annuities? If you'd like to do research and have a forum for
discussion of that research; if you'd like to hear the results of research that
your peers have done; if you have questions about financial matters that you
think others might have as well, join us in forming this research group. We
will find the answers. Our first meeting is planned for
June. To find out more about this group or to sign up, please contact Sylvia
Eusebi at (914) 949-2339. ¨
