In Memorium
Westchester NOW extends sympathy to Chapter member and founding mother, Sioux Taylor, whose father Bishop Decatur Ward Nichols died on January 25 at the age of 104. Bishop Nichols served as President of the Conference of Bishops of the AME Church and as Vice President of the National Council of Churches. He stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial with his friend Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1963 and was arrested in the march on Selma, Alabama in 1965. Bishop Nichols was buried from Emmanuel Church in Manhattan where he had been pastor for many years.
