WHITE PLAINS, October 21, 2003 - The Political Action Committee of the Westchester chapter of the National Organization for Women announced its endorsements of local candidates today.

"These candidates for county legislator deserve support," commented Arlene Ketchum, president of the chapter. " Our committee believes they will promote laws and policies that speak to the needs of the women and children in Westchester County."

Candidates were evaluated based on their responses to a questionnaire. Budget issues covered included continued funding for programs to combat violence against women , for day-care subsidies, and for civil legal services for poor and low-income elderly residents , among others. Additional issues addressed included reproductive rights, affirmative action, and pay equity.
